Blog Title: Expectations can hurt you!

Making the decision to seek out healing comes easily to some.  But for others it can be a more difficult process and can give rise to many questions, concerns and even expectations.

So what do you expect?

  • Do you believe that receiving a healing will solve your problem?
  • Do you imagine or visualize your healing practitioner taking that problem away?
  • Are you generally skeptical of healing and therefore looking to see if that healer can prove themself and their worthiness to you?

It is natural to have an intention, some hopes and even a goal when considering receiving a healing.  However, are you including and making yourself a part of the healing process, or are you expecting the work to be done for you?

Healing is a process or a journey – it is not necessarily a solution, conclusion, ending or finale.

Do you believe that receiving a healing will solve your problem?

If you have the expectation that healing will fix whatever ails you, then you may end up disappointed.  Problems, whether they are physical, emotional, spiritual or mental, are often more than one dimensional and can involve not only your energy, but other people’s also.  There may be layers of energy involved that have accumulated and built up over a period of time.

It would therefore be unrealistic to expect that one healing session, be it a massage, acupuncture treatment, homeopathic consultation, chiropractic adjustment, or the like would completely solve any issue that runs deep.

However, a healing session can most definitely help you move, release and change some of the energy involved in the problem.  Releasing a layer or two can relieve the pressure of the problem and allow you to find some distance and perspective.  You might even find that you can take it from that point on your own.

Do you imagine or visualize your healing practitioner taking that problem away?

Although it may be tempting, it really is not beneficial for someone else to take your problems away from you.  Why, you may ask!  Well because the problems and challenges we face help us learn and grow – they are part of our life’s lesson.  If, in the midst of your struggle, someone decides to relieve you of that problem, you will just have to create it again!  So that you can learn and move on!

This is why at times Western Medicine fails.  A prescription medication that takes away symptoms does not address the core issue creating the symptoms.

Are you generally skeptical of healing and therefore looking to see if that healer can prove themself and their worthiness to you?

Skepticism is the biggest set back to any healing!  A skeptic will spend so much time and energy looking for ways to validate their disbelief, that any progress or healing taking place will be missed or negated.  They may go so far as to cover or hide any problem issues to see if the healer can really discover what is going on!

Rather than allow someone to assist them in uncovering and releasing energy from their problem, they will bury it deeper and, as a result, make it even harder to find any relief!

So……….. check those expectations at the door when going for a healing.  Instead, make the decision to be an active participant in your healing journey.  Be open to receiving assistance and guidance in healing yourself, which is ultimately what healing is all about – you making the decision to create some change in your life.

Don’t let those expectations hurt you more than the issues you would like to heal.
