Blog Title: Creating what you want….

bright-sky-flickrIt might be hard to believe that anyone would deliberately set out to live their life according to someone else’s goals or desires, and yet this is often where we find ourselves.

Even if you want to, or have been taught to reach for the stars, make your mark, forge your own path, do those who are prescribing such a life really have YOUR best interests at heart? Do they mean what they say or are they hoping you will simply follow their lead and create what THEY want you to have, do, be? Is there any other force of energy that stands in the way of you creating what you want in life?

Let’s examine some of the reasons we stop creating what we want and, instead, go along with the crowd or prevailing trend.

– You have to say no to someone you care for.
– You might offend someone’s sensibilities.
– You are sensitive to other people’s needs.
– You are a healer and don’t like to upset the apple cart.
– You believe it is selfish to put yourself first.
– You will be punished if you don’t.
– You will be ostracized.
– You are not certain that what you want to create will be a success.

If any of the above reasons seem to apply to you and your life, then you are a sensitive, caring soul. So how do you reconcile being sensitive and a healer, with creating and having what you want.

First, it is necessary to recognize that walking your own path and reaching your goals is not selfish. As healers we become programmed to give to others first when, in fact, those we give to and assist will benefit more from our healing abilities if we take care of ourselves first.

Second, it is important to realize that there is more than enough space for each of us to achieve our goals. The competitive nature of humankind and the three-dimensional structure of our universe tend to lock us into the picture that there is only so much success to go around. We can’t all make it to the top! Maybe so, but is being at the top the only way to succeed and have what we want in life, does it mean that we can’t be successful in what we do and create?

We are each unique and, as a result, our goals and desires are unique also. Therefore, creating and having what we want in life takes nothing away from anyone else.

Third, we have to release and let go of fear. To quote Marianne Williams in her book “A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles” –

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

So, in other words, when we recognize that we can create for ourselves and reach our goals without destroying those around us, everyone benefits. Putting your attention on creating what you want and staying true to yourself actually helps to raise the vibration of energy on the planet which, in turn, assists others in achieving their goals also.
